During these tough times of Covid -19 lockdown, virtual classes have become a necessity. SKCF provides virtual classes to all the students, making sure that education is not compromised at all. When we first decided to start virtual classes post lockdown, many problems arose- the problem of student allotment (as different levels of students studied under the same batch), problems with the internet, technical glitches, getting students interested, lack of cooperation from parents (in some cases) and financial instability.
We struggled to keep things in order at first, but with the help of our dedicated volunteers that make SKCF a family and our enthusiastic and ready-to-learn children, we came up with solutions and alternatives. For the convenience of both students and teachers, we identified the levels through answer sheets and formed a new system of allotment into various batches. We try to make the classes interesting by showing pictures, infographics and educational videos.
To stabilize their financial condition as much as we can help, we provided them with meals, internet packs and have also paid school fees and have organized drives. We started using zoom for our classes along with sending study materials to the students if they failed to attend the class due to any reason, be it health, other household engagements or maybe technical difficulties. We knew it would be a difficult journey for the students without the support of their parents, so we tried to make the parents understand the importance of education. We have guided our lovely students to get well-versed with handling apps like zoom for ease of operation.
We teach and strengthen the students by providing them with quality education. With academics on the weekdays, Sunday becomes the activity day. We host extracurricular activities such as story-telling, crafting, singing, dancing, exercising, etc. Students participate with great enthusiasm and vigour. Regular tests are organized to monitor and work upon the academics of each student specifically and also help them work on their strengths and weaknesses. We try to focus more on their holistic growth.
Periodic examinations are conducted to keep a check on the academic development of the students. We at SKCF encourage our students to work hard and excel in all spheres. We have extremely dedicated, passionate and loving teachers who teach selflessly and have shown dedication towards teaching the children. At SKCF, we believe in creative learning. We teach students using pictorial and graphic representations. Students ask questions in the class which are cleared by the teachers. Unfortunately, there are many students who can’t afford smartphones or the devices required to pursue online classes. SKCF provided smartphones to the students who couldn’t afford them, so their studies would not be hampered. Smartphone distribution was undertaken recently.
We have had a great experience so far helping students see a better day and show the difference between virtual and real lives. It is very important to provide a balance between the two. Teaching is different in the virtual sphere, but our teachers have adapted and eased the students into this new model of education beautifully. We teach them academics, while also focusing on extracurriculars, above all we try to instil moral values within the young minds.
SKCF truly values education and aims at providing all opportunities in education to as many children as possible.
