Reading Fiction- An Escape

Have you ever picked up a random book and burnt the midnight oil trying to devour its contents? Have you ever read novels so enchanting that you forgot your dilemmas and delusions? I hope you have because believe me, it is the most liberating feeling in the world; to let go of your insecurities, step out in someone else’s shoes and experience the world through new frames. It provides an escape from the ever-pacing modern lifestyle we are leading today. Reading someone else’s stories gives us a glimpse inside the complex and fascinating working of the human mind. Authors weave together mixtures of reality and imagination to present to the readers acceptable yet challenging set-ups in varied writing styles.

Writing Fiction- A Creative Vent

Whatever we can imagine is real. There are no stories, no myths, no legends. What exists in the deepest, darkest, brightest, vivid corners of our minds have the potential of existing beyond that. Our creativity knows no limits and fiction writing provides us with a creative vent. It lets us explore unearthed lands and bottomless chasms without the fear of losing ourselves. Every unobservable possibility basking in our subconscious has the chance of turning out to be so much more if only we let our imagination flow, unhindered by the knots of social conventions. We write fiction to liberate ourselves and break the bounds of socially acceptable ideas. Every notion feels foreign and fictional until science comes along to label those Idiosyncrasies ‘innovation’. So, let’s not hold ourselves back from delving into this contour-less plateau.

The Bottom Line

Reading fiction brings out the human in us. It challenges the set norms, gives birth to a whole spectrum of emotions. It makes us feel and I believe, there is nothing more important or nourishing for our soul. It helps you gain innumerable new experiences, new feelings which will stay with you forever. The characters walk by your side and their stories become your own. You learn from their mistakes and their experiences inspire you, embolden you, make you step out of your shell. Fictional works have oceans of knowledge wrapped under the layers of fantasy and heartbreak. These texts provide a breath of fresh air, giving shape to the creative meaning of intangible ideas.
