INTRODUCTION

On October 27th, 2024, SKChildren Foundation’sBe the LightDiwali celebration embodied the essence of bringing together individuals from all walks of life to kindle the light within and around them. 

The ‘Be the Light’ event at our community center shone bright, spreading radiance and making a tangible difference in the lives of underprivileged children and families. This unforgettable evening wove threads of love, compassion, and unity through cultural performances, community activities, and heartfelt interactions.

THE CELEBRATION OF LIGHT

The SKCF ‘Be the Light’ Diwali celebration commenced with the traditional lighting of lamps, symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness. The ambiance was electrified as our esteemed Chief Guest, Colonel Shivender Kanwar, joined hands with our team to ignite the ceremonial diyas. This auspicious beginning was followed by a mesmerizing Saraswati Vandana dance performance, which set the tone for an enchanting evening.

The event unfolded with a series of captivating dance performances, showcasing  India’s rich heritage. The audience was treated to a visual spectacle, with vibrant costumes and energetic choreography. Our Vice President, Prerna Jain, took the stage to deliver an inspiring speech, emphasizing the importance of spreading radiance and kindness. Her words resonated deeply with the audience, fostering a sense of community and social responsibility. This was followed by a thought-provoking questionnaire session with Colonel Shivendra Kanwar, who shared valuable insights into Diwali celebrations in the army.

The celebration then shifted gears with interactive games, including Antyakshri and Atlas, which brought smiles to the faces of children and volunteers alike. The energy reached new heights as everyone joined in for an impromptu dance session.

THE POWER OF VOLUNTEERISM AND SPONSORSHIP

SKCF’s “Be the Light” Diwali celebration was made possible by the selfless efforts of volunteers and the generous support of sponsors. The dedication of our volunteers was instrumental in the event’s success. 

From artistic Rangoli designs to intricate decorations, volunteers brought their creative flair to the forefront. Behind-the-scenes heroes ensured seamless logistics, seating, and activities with precision.

We gratefully acknowledge the financial contributions of our sponsors, whose support enabled us to provide food, gifts, and resources to underprivileged children. During the celebration, a remarkable story unfolded, embodying the festival’s true spirit.

On stage, Rohini, a shy yet determined 18-year-old, received a standing ovation as she shared her inspiring story. Born into a disadvantaged family, Rukmini’s dreams of attending college seemed impossible. However, SKCF’s tireless efforts and unwavering support transformed her life.

With SKCF’s guidance, Rukmini secured admission to a prestigious college, overcoming countless obstacles. As she accepted her admission letter on stage, tears of joy filled her eyes.

SPREADING RADIANCE BEYOND DIWALI

SKCF’s commitment to spreading radiance beyond Diwali shone brightly as the evening drew to a close. The organization’s dedication to nurturing young minds and empowering communities was evident in the thoughtful initiatives that followed.

A food distribution ceremony was organized, providing nutritious meals and sweet treats to underprivileged children and families. This selfless act embodied the true spirit of Diwali, reminding everyone that kindness knows no bounds.

Underprivileged children were felicitated with medals and kits for their outstanding achievements. The ceremony recognized exceptional performance in academics, sports, and extracurricular activities.

Personalized gifts and customized kits containing educational materials were distributed, bringing joy and pride to the children’s faces. SKCF’s initiative celebrated their hard work and talents, inspiring confidence and motivation for a brighter future.

In a heartfelt gesture, gift tokens were presented to volunteers, acknowledging their tireless efforts and selfless contributions. This recognition reinforced the value of community service and inspired continued commitment to SKCF’s mission.

Beyond the festive season, SKCF’s work continues to illuminate the lives of those in need. Through education, healthcare, and empowerment programs, the organization strives to create a lasting impact. The ‘Be the Light’ celebration served as a testament to SKCF’s unwavering dedication to spreading radiance throughout the year.

As the evening drew to a close, our Director took the stage to deliver the final address. Expressing gratitude to the attendees, sponsors, and volunteers, the Director highlighted the impact of SKCF’s initiatives and the significance of collective efforts in creating positive change.
